Yearly replacement filter cost
Cost per gallon = manufacturer list price ÷ NSF-rated service cycle. Yearly cost assumes 1 or 2 gallons of filtered drinking/cooking water per day. Many manufacturers also recommend replacement by time (e.g. every 6–12 months) even if you use less, which can raise your real cost.

RO systems
RO systems use several stages with different replacement intervals, so a single per-gallon figure would be misleading. What we could verify from manufacturer stores:
- Pentair GRO-575B: Not verified from the manufacturer's own store (data gap)
- iSpring RCC7AK-BN: $41.99: F4AK 6-month pre/post filter pack (no RO membrane) (source, as listed 2026-10-17)
- iSpring RO500AK-BN (tankless): Not verified from the manufacturer's own store (data gap)
- Express Water RO5DX: $34.99: "RO System Filter Set", listed as "starting at" (source, as listed 2026-10-17)
- Express Water RO10DX: Not verified from the manufacturer's own store (data gap)
- A.O. Smith AORO-50: Not verified from the manufacturer's own store (data gap)
Where we show "data gap" we could not confirm a current price on the manufacturer's own store and chose not to quote retailer prices.
